This year eight Spark Grants were awarded to projects that involve Burners from SPACE. The grants spark small projects that propel the Guiding Principles in the default world. There are as many grants available as there are principles but as yet we’ve never had the full spread in one year.
Straight out of the blocks with Radical Self Expression – Ayanda Khambule’s Colour The Space project is already underway, creating new murals depicting daily life in Vosloorus and Thokoza in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. The other Spark Grant projects running over the next 6 months are:
Civic Responsibility
The Woof Project – developing a food garden at the local SPCA in Stutterheim, Eastern Cape.

Matjieshuis – a weekend programme reconnecting to the Khoikhoi identity and ancestry – Lavender Hill, Western Cape
An opportunity to rethink our relationship with waste and address water scarcity – Public Composting Waterless Toilet – Bellville, Western Cape
