It is with a heavy heart, we report that this Friday the 28th of April, a 41 year-old participant passed away during the event.

As soon as the participant became ill and required urgent medical attention, the participant was taken to the dedicated on-site medical facility to be treated by the AfrikaBurn advanced life support team, led by an Emergency Physician. Unfortunately, the participant passed away. Their next of kin have been notified and are in contact with the organisation.

AfrikaBurn would like to offer our sincerest condolences to his friends and family. We also thank the AfrikaBurn medical team, which includes Medics in Motion, Doctors in Motion, Medextreme, Air Mercy Services and the Western Cape Ambulance Service for their prompt attention and care.
