WTF happens AFTER AfrikaBurn?

After experiencing a week of openness, freedom, and self-expression, leaving Afrikaburn can be challenging.

Side effects might include the temptation to throw everything away and run away to the circus, or something similar. Take some time to reintegrate into the default world.

DO NOT, NOT, NOT rush into any life-changing decision right away… even though AfrikaBurn has changed you!

Leave some time for the dust to settle (no pun intended) before you decide to quit your job, leave your partner, move country or otherwise. It might be the right decision in the long run, but chances are that you’re not thinking quite rationally yet.

Try your hardest not to be insensitive to the people you’ve left at home either. It can be easy for your friends or partner to feel bland and boring compared to what you may have experienced at the burn. Take the time to listen to their world too!

Not everyone will want to join you at the burn next year. And that’s OK. We all find different paths.
Keep in touch – and see you next year in the Dust!

  1. Timely advice.
I get it… Don’t make any rash decisions regarding work, relationship,or changing where I now live. Can I take a month or 2 to think about these please.
Muchas gratias, from me and our party from Ireland for a great, in my case, 1st time burn. I’ve got a few things to really think about. Gerry
