AfrikaBurn is seeking an Asset and Yard Coordinator to work as a part of its ground crew at the headquarters Junction Hotel in Salt River, Cape Town. While some might think the ABHQ looks like a bomb went off in an art gallery, it’s also the space where we keep our materials and resources in between burns, as well as host volunteer days, workshops and events. We need a diligent and dedicated person to keep it shipshape, who can see how important that rusty old caravan wheel is for a project, and make sure it gets to the right place at the right time in the right condition.
AfrikaBurn is the strategic driver of Burning Man culture in the Southern African region and plays a significant role in the arts and culture sector of South Africa. Most known for its flagship event in the Tankwa Karoo, as a public benefit organisation, AfrikaBurn is the human scaffold that helps a diverse creative community propel numerous arts and development projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the yard at Junction Hotel as an active, multi use space:
Keep the yard neat and orderly
Coordinate and maintain the storage facilities and parking bays
Control access to the yard, and the security of the yard.
Run the budget associated with yard maintenance and usage
Coordinate the online booking system
Set up spaces and equipment
Support portfolio activities in the yard
Promote volunteerism and run yard days throughout the year
Coordinate the yard lessees.
Ensure implementation of policies related to yard usage
Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule
- Coordinate the maintenance, usage and registry of AfrikaBurn’s assets:
Service, maintain and repair AfrikaBurns assets so that they are available in good working condition and are safe to use.
Maintain an up-to-date registry, insurance of assets, licensing and compliance of assets
Track movements of assets between the Junction Hotel, Quaggafontein and other locations.
Assist and support AfrikaBurn portfolios in the use of its various assets
Ensure implementation of all policies related to asset usage
Minimum Requirements
Drivers license
Familiar with Google Suite/ Google Apps specifically Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms, (or Microsoft Office – including Excel, Word, Powerpoint )
Able to communicate across many channels – Slack, What’sApp, email.
Database management software knowledge
