AfrikaBurn Web 3.0 Launches!

The creation of a website, like life, isn’t an exact science.

To get all the many, many pieces of info together from various sources is a Sisyphean task (dunno what it means? Googlify it.) best left to those with even tempers, keen eyes and lots of coffee. But here we are, and there you sit, reading this piece of news on the all-new, all-singing-all-dancing AfrikaBurn Website!

As you can see, it is a thing of great beauty, and all credit is due to our web team volunteers Ilan Judes and Chris Pyke for achieving a fantastic end result which took many late nights and more than a little inspiration. Massive thanks to Jonx Pillemer for the use of his wonderful images. Others who deserve a salute, hug or shot of 100% proof whisky are all contributors of content from the various portfolios – which you can view under the relevant heading. If you encounter these brave souls, lavish them with them warm praise and cold beer. But down to the brass tacks.

Take your time to familiarise yourself with the layout of our new site. Wander around, poke your nose in every corner – chances are the answers to the questions you have about AfrikaBurn the event, community and organisation are all to be found here. Some of them, like the most obvious ones, are in the FAQ. Others, under their relevant headings.

There are galleries. There are acknowledgements for those who’ve made great contributions to getting AfrikaBurn to where it is. There are directions, suggestions and soon enough, a blog with reflections. What you see before you is the work of many months by many hands, but isn’t even complete yet – what you see before you is only Phase I. Phase II will add more features and hopefully put a final end to silly questions like ‘WHEN IS AFRIKABURN?’ or ‘CAN I BRING MY COCKATOO?!’. In the spirit of radical Self-Reliance, we hope this new, fully revamped site gives you all the important info you need to make your AfrikaBurn experience all the more enjoyable.

And if you do have any questions, please take the time to search for their answers here. Website development may not be an exact science, but – if it’s info on AfrikaBurn you’re looking for – you’re in exactly the right place.
