Say hello to J Dawg, for trying to be his best self for others – even though his ‘self’ (whatever that may be) is beloved because he leads with love. Trying to heal yourself is difficult – in the desert oddly so. You played hard, you loved hard – you were seen. You did good, kid, for DPW!
Name/Burner Name: J Dawg
For how long have you been part of AfrikaBurn? I attended Afrika burn in 2023 as a stage hand but 2024 was my first year rocking with DPW!
What made you want to join the community? I met a few special people outside of AfrikaBurn, who were apart of the community and if they’re that cool when they’re not in the desert, imagine how cool they must be when they’re there! For the people!
What is your role within the community? I am always excited to take on new roles and learn where I can, but my heart lies with being a Fluffer for Crew welfare. Taking care of the little things that keep the smiles wide and the hearts full is what I’m about.
What do you love about AfrikaBurn? So, so, so many things come to mind but the insane amount of love that comes together with an unstoppable work force is just out of this world… and I like burning shit.
Fun facts! Some fun facts… After DPW 2024 l drove for about 10 000km through southern Africa, it took me just short of 2 months. Best decompression there is!
We appreciate you, J Dawg, and are thrilled to have you on our #WALL OF FIRE!
Stay tuned for more amazing stories from our volunteers!
